BMW 5 series packed with a range of engines offering exceptional power, comfort, and luxury, where 520d is a gem

BMW is renowned for manufacturing vehicles which can be exceptional in power generation with BMW engines but mostly at a bit higher price. But in the case of the 5 series, things are very different. It is probably the luxury saloon in the UK market and manages to merge seamless handling, limousine-like comfort and a supreme built cabin with a luxurious glance.

What it is?

BMW 5 series was first introduced in 1972 by the German automaker and now the sixth generation of the 5 series is in the UK market with a raft of new technologies.

It is the first in its type to utility start / stop technological advancement and an automatic transmission with eight speeds. The base model styling makes it a great vehicle to see than the preceding models. The new 5 series styling is more matching to the top level models of the 7 series, which can be the case with the upmarket cabin. Compared to its predecessors, the sixth generation of the 5 series feels more refined and has the edge over the rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-class.

Executive N47 Engines

The engine line-up is much striking with each model, even the base model 520d comes with a N47 D20 diesel engine which delivers excellent performance. This engine is in a position of pushing the 5 series with some great muscle and ultimately push it from 0-62 miles per hour in 8.1 seconds. It doesn’t stop here but delivers the fuel economy of a claimed average of almost under 60 miles per gallon. On the motorway cruising, it returns even better average per gallon.

If you wish to have more grunt you would wish to go for the 295bhp 535d. the 535d engines are again the N47 engines but with some extra power to get you to 62 miles per hour in just 5.7 seconds when you push it from standstill. On the fuel economy table, it returns a praiseworthy 45 miles per gallon on average. As we are discussing the diesel engines but if you are a petrol lover, we advise you to go for a 528i petrol powered 5 series. It has a targeted sprint time – for 62 miles per hour from standstill – of 6.9 seconds, but we are really sorry for the fuel economy figures because it is the thirstiest most model in the 5 series model line-up.f character.
