Excellent refinement raised suspension for ruff terrains and it is a real mud plunger from Audi

The all new A4 Allroad estate has been developed for filling the gap between the Audi Q5 compact SUV and a regular A4 Avant on the market. It is an all-wheel drive estate that has a relatively higher ground clearance and is on sale since May 2016. Deliveries started in June and some of the UK drivers have their hands on the steering so far.

If you wish to have one, opt for an Audi A4 2.0 litre TDi with 187bhp or a 148bhp but later power option will be offered a bit later in the market. For the UK buyers, Audi has set a price tag of around £35k to £36k but Brexit might affect the tag in future.

A Few Premium rivals

What do you think that Audi has changed its style to dominate the market with perfection after the Diesel gate? Not at all. There is not even a single comparable model on the market with the A4 Estate, neither from Mercedes nor from any other like BMW. But its own siblings like Skoda Octavia Scout and Volkswagen Passat Alltrack has some features similar with the Audi A4 Estate. These two models have received a similar treatment from their parents. Subaru Outback, Peugeot RXH and Volvo XC70 can also give a good competition to the new A4 estate but not in the UK market actually.

PSA has called for a price hike on Brexit, Subaru hardly focuses the UK market while Volvo has other intentions and solid points to appeal its customers.

Audi A4 Allroad trims

The A4 Allroad has different trims that are not comparable with the standard estates from Audi or even the Allroads. A regular Allroad with 2.0 litre Audi engine and S-Tronic transmission is around £1.3k less in price when compare to the 2.0 litre 187bhp engines used in the A4 Avant. Both models are the best in their relative segments and both have larger boots too.

Petrol, Diesel, and Quattro with Ultra tech

There is a range of petrol and diesel engines offered on the Audi A4 Allroad Estate. Together with both transmissions, automatic and manual. Audi has also offered its fuel saving all-wheel drive Quattro technology on these models to make the new Allroad an ultra-fuel saver. The Quattro system keeps a constant eye on the road and note the road conditions to select the gear ratios, throttle and steering settings on millisecond bases and makes precise calculations.

After carefully calculating these stats, Quattro triggers the all-wheel-drive system rather than permanently engaging it with the system. It means, on city driving speeds, Audi will be a front wheel drive only but you are driving on a rough surface, it will be an all-wheel drive.

On papers, the all new Audi A4 Allroad petrol engines look quiet hefty and swift than the petrol engines. The 2.0-litre engine develops 249bhp power and sprints to benchmark of 62 miles in six seconds with a top notch of 155 miles per hour.
