With efficient engines range, this Cabriolet has something for everyone to choose

The Renault Megane Cabriolet is a fantastic one which offers a thrilling driving experience

The latest Renault Megane cabriolet with significant cosmetic changes portraits the new design philosophy of the Renault. The wide V-shaped grille with a larger diamond emblem dominates the front. The lower bumper has been redesigned classically and some changes have been made in its interior and engine range to compete with the well-renowned rivals such as the Audi A3 cabriolet, Peugeot 308 cabriolet and the Volkswagen Eos.

The newest two-piece glass panoramic roof provides light and air into the cabin. This idea is a novel in itself, appreciated by the audience. With its retractable panoramic glass roof, the Renault Megane cabriolet is considered as the ideal for getting the best out of any weather condition.

No doubt it is a very comfortable and well-refined cabriolet that you can happily live with all year around. The Renault has tried its best to reduce the unpleasant wind buffering by the addition of a new fixed glass wind deflector.

The Megane Cabriolet is with a huge engine lineup

The most important feature of the Renault Megane cabriolet is its vast range of petrol and diesel engines, which is highly efficient in performance as well as affordable in fuel consumption. There are three diesel engines which are considered as the most fuel efficient in the whole engine range. The petrol engines are less economical but good in speed and acceleration.

The Megane Cabriolet diesel engine lineup

The diesel engine lineup starts with 1.5-litre DCi which is capable of 108bhp and 177lb/ft torque. It is an entry-level diesel engine takes 12.8 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 118m/h. Though not as fast as a cabriolet’s should be, but highly economical with 58m/g of fuel average and just 124g/km of CO2 emissions. It is fitted with six-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive system as standard.

The 1.6-litre DCi 130bhp version with manual transmission is the most economical one

The 128bhp and 320Nm of torque, this 1.6-litre diesel engine is capable to take this smart cabriolet from 0-62m/h in 10.5 seconds with top speed of 127m/h.

This diesel engine is impressive in performance with efficient fuel consumption and gives 64m/g of fuel average and the emissions are just 115g/km. This diesel engine is fitted with six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive system as standard.

The 2.0-litre DCi is the quickest in the whole diesel engine lineup

With 157bhp and 280lb/ft torque, this 2.0-litre DCi diesel engine is the fastest in the diesel engine lineup. It takes 9.1 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 134 m/h. Its fuel average is 42m/g with 175g/km of CO2 emissions. It is used in GT Line trim-Level with six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive system.

The Megane Cabriolet petrol engine lineup

The petrol engine lineup starts with 1.4-litre 16V TCE, which is capable of 128bhp and 140lb/ft torque. It takes 10.4 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 124m/h. Its fuel average is 38m/g with 169g/km of CO2 emissions. It is fitted with six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive system as standard.

The 2.0-litre 16V TCE with CVT system

This petrol engine is of 138bhp and 144lb/ft torque. It takes 11.3 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h with top speed of 121m/h. Its fuel average is 35m/g with 184g/km of CO2 emissions and it is fitted with Automatic 1-speed CVT system and front-wheel drive assembly as standard.

The 2.0-litre TCE with 177bhp is at the top of petrol engine lineup

With 177bhp and 221lb/ft torque, it is the fastest petrol engine in Megane cabriolet petrol engine lineup. It takes 7.1 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 143m/h. Its fuel average is 34m/g with 188g/km of CO2 emissions. It is fitted with six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive unit as standard.

The Megane Cabriolet is equipped with good interior.

The interior is not only different in built but also in style, if we compare it with other vehicles of this class. With panoramic glass roof this cabriolet is matchless. The Volkswagen Eos has tried to copy this feature.

The high standard material is used to furnish the interior of this cabriolet that gives a premium feel. Though a little bit expensive, but you won’t be disappointed by the performance of this cabriolet and the stuff you paid for.

The Dynamic Tom Tom specification associated with standard navigation system, keyless entry, Bluetooth, efficient cruise control system, steering wheel with adjustments, height adjustable driver’s seat, grippy and hip-hugging sports seats, rear parking camera with parking sensors and efficient ABS braking system is there in the new Megane Cabriolet.

Space and practicality of this car is a real drawback.

The biggest drawback of the Megane convertible is the tight rear space in back. It is best for family with small children but not perfect for the four-adults. The legroom is good at front but in the back there is very tight leg room for adults along with tight head room while the roof is up.

The reason behind this tight rear seats set up is the big and spacious boot offered by the Megane cabriolet. The 417 litres boot space means more than enough space for a convertible when the roof is up and 211 litres when the roof is down.  The Megane cabriolet is fitted with the latest hands-free key-card locking system which is really impressive in performance.

The Megane Cabriolet is one of the safest convertibles in the world.

After 2007 UK Crash-test which damaged the reputation of the French manufacturer, some improvements and refinements have been made in this regards to achieve the highest standards of reliability and safety. The Euro NCAP crash-test has given five-star rating to the Megane cabriolet.

All models are fitted with front, side and thorax airbags as standard. The sensible stability and traction control system is fitted in the Megane cabriolet. The unique pair of pyrotechnic roll hoops that pop up to protect rear passengers in the event of a roll is a welcomed addition in safety measures. All models have deadlocks and an alarm to deter thieves. Now the current Megane is the safest and the most reliable car that the Renault has ever made.
